For this month, we had the opportunity to feature GoYummy, a family-founded business bringing the Swedish candy experience to South Florida.

GoYummy was founded in 2024 by the Johnson family, originally from Sweden, who have a long entrepreneurial background in the home décor industry. For many years, they designed and developed products for interior design stores and furniture chains across Sweden and Europe. In 2015, they expanded their business to the United States and eventually settled in Florida, where they have lived and worked ever since.
During their time in the U.S., one thing they consistently missed was Swedish pick-and-mix candy. Known in Sweden for its high quality, unique flavors, and interactive experience, they found it surprising that nothing similar existed in the American market. What began as a personal habit of bringing candy back from Sweden soon turned into something more. Each summer, suitcases were filled not only for themselves but also for friends, who quickly became just as enthusiastic. Over time, the idea grew stronger. There was a clear gap in the market, and the question became whether this experience could be introduced to a wider audience in the U.S.

In 2024, the family made the decision to leave their previous industry behind and fully commit to building something new. After developing the concept, sourcing products, and building the brand, GoYummy was launched. In October 2025, they opened their first flagship store in Boca Raton, offering one of the largest selections of Swedish candy in the United States.
From the beginning, the ambition has been clear. GoYummy is not just about selling candy, but about creating an experience. Customers are invited to explore, discover new flavors, and build their own personalized mix. The stores are designed to feel colorful, welcoming, and interactive, appealing to both families and younger audiences. The goal is to make each visit something enjoyable and memorable.

The journey has not been without challenges. As a new concept in the U.S., securing retail locations required both persistence and the ability to build trust with partners. Without an established track record, they had to rely on their vision and determination to move forward. At the same time, these early challenges helped shape the company and strengthen its foundation. One of the most defining moments came with the opening of the first store. Large crowds gathered even before the doors opened, which was a clear sign that the concept resonated. Since then, positive customer feedback and growing demand have continued to confirm that Swedish candy has a place in the U.S. market.
What sets GoYummy apart is the combination of product quality and experience. Swedish candy differs from much of what is typically found in the U.S., both in flavor and ingredients. Once customers try it, many are surprised by the difference, which often leads to repeat visits. Building a motivated and engaged team is also a priority, with a focus on creating a positive work environment where employees feel involved.

GoYummy’s connection to SACC Florida goes back to the founders’ earlier business ventures in the United States. Becoming a member in connection with the launch of the company felt like a natural step. Being part of the Swedish-American business community provides opportunities to connect with other entrepreneurs, exchange experiences, and stay rooted in Swedish culture while operating in an international market.
Looking ahead, GoYummy sees significant opportunities for growth. The company recently celebrated the successful opening of its second store in Downtown Palm Beach Gardens, which has been very well received. Continuing on this path, the next step included the opening of a third store at River Market in Fort Lauderdale, which held its grand opening on April 18. In addition to its retail expansion, GoYummy is also preparing to launch its online store soon, further strengthening its presence and accessibility. With increasing interest in Swedish candy and a growing customer base, the ambition is to continue building the brand and reaching new audiences.
GoYummy is still at an early stage of its journey, but the direction is clear. By combining Swedish tradition with an engaging retail experience, the company aims to establish something lasting in the U.S. market. At its core is a simple idea, to share the joy and experience of Swedish pick-and-mix candy and turn it into something customers return to again and again.
