For the last membership spotlight of the year, we had the pleasure of highlighting Josefine Mooney, a young Swedish professional working as a financial advisor for Helius Wealth Management.

Josefine was born and raised in Löddeköpinge, Sweden and originally came to Florida on a soccer scholarship at Keiser University, planning to stay for just a year. However, she quickly fell in love with Florida, her University and her team, and decided to complete her degree here. Through a connection with her finance professor, she was introduced to the advisor who later connected her with her current employer, Helius Wealth Management, where she now works.

Josefine’s path toward becoming a financial advisor wasn’t planned from the beginning. She initially studied management but later switched to finance because she found it more challenging and rewarding. She was drawn to the field because it allowed for career growth, variety in daily work, and meaningful interaction with people – three things she had always wanted in a profession.

Helius Wealth Management is more than just a traditional financial advisory practice, it’s a team dedicated to helping clients build strong, well-rounded financial futures. The company focuses on creating tailored financial plans that cover every aspect of a person’s financial life: from smart investment strategies and tax optimization to insurance coverage and estate planning. The goal is to make sure each client’s finances are protected, efficient, and set up for long-term success.
What makes Helius stand out is its proactive and personal approach. The team digs deep into every financial plan to uncover hidden opportunities where they can add real value. They don’t just give advice and walk away, they stay involved, following up and helping clients actually implement their strategies. Acting as true accountability partners, they make sure every piece of the financial puzzle falls into place exactly as it should.

Josefine has built an impressive career in the financial industry in South Florida, driven by curiosity, persistence, and a genuine interest in helping people make sense of their finances. Starting out as a front office manager, she quickly took on new responsibilities, gained several professional licenses, and now works as a financial advisor.
Working in a field that’s still largely male-dominated hasn’t always been easy. Building trust as a young woman in finance takes time, especially when clients are sharing something as personal as their financial situation. But through consistency and professionalism, she has earned both confidence and respect. Her approach to advising is straightforward: focus on what actually benefits the client.

Having lived in both Sweden and the United States, Josefine has developed a clear understanding of how differently the two countries approach personal finance. In Sweden, much of the financial system is automated, while in the U.S., individuals must take a far more active role in securing their financial future. Retirement savings, education costs, and insurance coverage all require personal initiative and careful planning. For Swedes who move to the U.S., this can be a real challenge. Many are unfamiliar with the available options and tax advantages, making it difficult to know where to start. Josefine sees great value in helping clients navigate these complexities and make the most of the opportunities that exist within the American financial system.
Her Swedish background also shapes her approach to financial advising. Growing up in a culture that values humility and authenticity has influenced the way she interacts with clients. Rather than focusing on sales, she prioritizes trust, transparency, and long-term relationships, which are qualities that resonate deeply with her clients in Florida.
Josefine’s connection with SACC Florida began through the local Swedish community. After attending the Chamber’s annual Kräftskiva, she quickly became involved in other events and discovered how vibrant the Swedish network is in South Florida. Today, she enjoys staying connected to her roots while contributing her expertise to both the local and Swedish-American communities.

Building on her experience navigating the differences between the Swedish and U.S. financial systems, Josefine launched the concept Fika and Finance. The idea is to provide a trusted resource for Swedes in South Florida, helping them understand what financial options are available and how to make the most of them. Whether through office visits, small workshops, or informal meetings, the goal is to educate and guide Swedes in the U.S. on investment strategies, retirement planning, insurance, and other key aspects of personal finance.
Looking ahead, both Josefine and Helius Wealth Management have ambitious plans. Josefine is currently working toward additional professional designations to better understand how clients’ decision-making and behavior impact their financial choices. As a team, Helius was recently recognized as Forbes Best in State for 2025 and aims to be featured among Forbes Best in the Nation in 2026. Growth, education, and providing meaningful value to clients remain at the heart of their mission.
